CASE STUDY: RAINDANCE FILM FESTIVAL



Raindance showcases features, shorts and music videos by filmmakers from the UK and around the world celebrating and supporting independent, new and alternative filmmakers. There has been 24 Raindance Film Festivals, screening 100 feature films and over 150 short films. Raindance Film Festival is officially recognised by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences USA, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts and the British Independent Film Awards. Selected shorts will qualify for Oscar and BAFTA nominations. British short films that play in competition and all British features that play in 2016 will be eligible for entry for the 2016 British Independent Film Awards BIFA.

The Raindance Film Festival is the largest and most important independent film festival in the UK. Raindance showcases features, shorts and music videos to filmmakers from the UK and around the world to an audience of film executives and buyers, journalists, film fans and filmmakers. Along with screenings, there are seminars, workshops and parties.
Raindance brings diverse international programming. The focus of the programming changes each year to reflect current trends in UK and world cinema. It is also an Academy Award and BAFTA qualifying festival, as well as being closely associated with the BIFAs.
